George C. Mason, Jr. (1849-1924) was born on August 8, 1849, in Newport, Rhode Island, the son of prominent Newport architect, George C. (1820-1894) and Frances (Dean) Mason. At the age of eighteen, George C. Mason, Jr. entered his father’s successful architectural firm and by 1871 was made a full partner of the firm. George C.
